Cape Town was host to an awesome showcase of sneaker and street art at the K•Spray Custom Kicks finale on Friday the 8th of December. The four-month K•Spray campaign provided local underground artists with the opportunity to be recognised for their work, using K•Swiss sneakers as a brand new canvas. K•Swiss SA was proud to present its first K•Spray prize to Durbanite Wes van Eeden, for a shoe design which earned massive respect from both fashion conscious socialites and grungy street artists alike.
Logan Hicks continued his international endorsement of the K•Spray concept, flying into SA to perform a live stencil installation on the night, as well as selecting the final winner from the Top 10 K•Spray entries. Logan Hicks’ stencil installation on the night was no disappointment, depicting a Tokyo street scene in painstaking detail. It took just under two hours to complete and clearly demonstrated why he has risen to the top of the stencil design ranks worldwide. Using hand cut stencils which had taken 150 man hours to create, Hicks worked methodically on his monochromatic masterpiece, while the audience mingled amid the fresh beats of local muso DJ Hamma, and occasional jibes by MC Cokey Falkow.
K•Spray looks forward to making the third trip out again to South Africa in 2007!
